Free preview · No Instagram login · They aren't notified

How it works

  1. 1

    Enter a username

Type any public Instagram username, or paste a link to their profile.

  2. 2

    We sort by follow order

We read their public Following list and keep it in the order the follows happened, instead of Instagram's default order.

  3. 3

    See the newest follows

The most recent follows show up first. The full list, alerts and more are in the app.

Why Instagram doesn't show who someone recently followed

Open someone else's Following list on Instagram and you get it in Instagram's default order — not in the order they followed each account. On a list of a few hundred names, the handful they added this week can be anywhere, so a new follow is easy to miss even if you scroll the whole thing.

Instagram used to have a Following activity tab that showed what people were following and liking, but it was removed in 2019. Since then the app has had no built-in way to see someone's newest follows.

Recently Followed reads the account's public Following list and keeps it in the order the follows happened. The first result is the most recent follow, the second is the one before it, and so on — that's all "recently followed" means here. We don't know or show the exact time of each follow, and we won't pretend to.

What you can see

Newest follows first

Spot the accounts someone started following lately without scrolling through hundreds of names in random order.

Anonymous and login-free

No Instagram login, nothing sent to the person you look up, and nothing posted anywhere.

Alerts in the app

Recent Follow can notify you when an account you're watching follows someone new, so you don't have to keep checking.

Honest about limits

Private accounts can only be checked if you already follow them. We show the order of follows, never made-up times.

Public vs. private accounts

Public accounts work right here. Anyone can open a public account's Following list on Instagram, so the preview above simply puts that same list in follow order.

Private accounts only show their Following list to people they've approved. The web preview can't read them. If you already follow a private account, you can sign in with your own Instagram in the Recent Follow app and check it there. If you don't follow them, nobody can show you that list — any tool that claims to is not telling the truth.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see who someone recently followed on Instagram?+

Yes, if the account is public. Type their username above and you'll see the accounts they followed most recently, with the newest at the top. Instagram itself doesn't sort someone else's Following list by date, which is why new follows are hard to spot in the app.

Will they know I looked?+

No. The lookup happens on our side and never touches your Instagram account, so nothing is sent to the person you look up — no notification, no profile visit, no follow request.

Do I need to log in to Instagram?+

No. The web preview works without any Instagram login. You only sign in (inside the app) if you want to check a private account that you already follow.

Does it work for private accounts?+

Not on the web. A private account's following list is only visible to people it has approved. In the Recent Follow app you can sign in with your own Instagram and check private accounts you already follow — nobody can see a private list they don't have access to, and any site claiming otherwise is a scam.

Does it show exactly when they followed someone?+

No — it shows the order, not the time. The first result is the most recent follow, the second is the one before it, and so on. We never guess timestamps like "2 minutes ago".

Why are only a few results shown?+

The free preview shows a few real results so you can check the account is the right one. The full list, newest first, is in the Recent Follow app. The newest few are kept for the app as well.

What do the "women" and "men" counts mean?+

They're a rough estimate based on the display names in the list. Names that don't clearly point either way aren't counted, so treat the numbers as a hint, not a fact.

Didn't Instagram used to show this?+

Instagram had a Following activity tab that showed what the people you follow were liking and following. It was removed in 2019, and there's no built-in way to see someone's newest follows since then.

Is it free?+

The preview on this page is free and needs no account. The Recent Follow app is free to download on iPhone and Android.
